Support the BSYO's Tour & Scholarship fund!

In 2013, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra formed the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras (BSYO), carrying on a rich 35-year tradition of the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestras under the auspices of Maryland’s world-class Orchestra. Today, the BSYO is comprised of 400+ students across four ensembles tailored to specific age groups and musical skill levels. Each ensemble offers every student individualized attention and instruction (including coaching from BSO players), weekly rehearsals, and opportunities to perform both symphonic masterworks and exciting new repertoire. In summer 2023, the BSYO celebrated their 10-year anniversary with a 16-city tour throughout Europe. Spurred by the incredible reception they received, planning their 2025 tour is in the works right now – including performing at the Lisbon Music Festival!

All gifts to the BSO’s Annual Fund support the BSYO. However, dedicated funding is necessary to make these formative touring experiences possible, and to provide annual tuition assistance for talented students from all backgrounds to participate in the BSYO. 

What fees can BSYO scholarships cover for students?

• Audition Fee: $50 
• Yearly Tuition:
  String Orchestra - $600
  Philharmonia Orchestra (beginning) - $800
  Concert Orchestra (intermediate) - $900
  Youth Orchestra (advanced) - $950
  Music Printing/Folder Fee - $20
