Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Steinway Fund
A Campaign to Bring a New Steinway Model D to the Meyerhoff

In June 2025, the BSO set out on a bold effort, the first in more than 25 years: to upgrade its piano collection and acquire a new instrument of excellence for the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

Thanks to our founding Piano Fund supporters (Rick Berndt and Members of the 2025 BSO Academy Class), and many generous friends, our dream will soon be realized.

Our Fundraising Goal: $250,000 by August 31, 2026

Our Progress To-Date: $250,000 achieved as of June 30, 2026

Thank you to all donors who have generously supported our Piano Fund! The BSO is presently coordinating a selection visit to the Steinway Factory, with a goal to welcome a new concert grand Model D during the 2026–27 season — a season featuring many great pianists.

Every Steinway is crafted from more than 12,000 parts. Please help us recognize the many friends who have "purchased" a symbolic piano part or key.
